Cosmos: The Art Of Observing Space
RWA Bristol
24 Jan – 19 Apr 2026
I am pleased to announce my participation in the exhibition Cosmos: The Art of Observing Space at RWA Bristol from 24 Jan to 19 April 2026.
Cosmos: The Art of Observing Space is a major art and science exhibition celebrating our enduring fascination with space. Bringing together contemporary and historic artists, the exhibition features an extraordinary range of work inspired by the cosmos. Discover breathtaking pieces by leading names such as Yinka Shonibare RA, Christopher LeBrun RA, and RWA Academicians, alongside emerging voices exploring the mysteries of the universe through paint, sculpture, installation and digital media.
Complementing these contemporary works are rare and remarkable artefacts from the archives of the Royal Astronomical Society and national collections. From historical moon drawings and star maps to beautifully crafted celestial globes, these objects offer a glimpse into how artists and scientists have long turned to the skies in search of meaning, beauty, and understanding. Curated by Ione Parkin RWA, Cosmos: The Art of Observing Space invites visitors to experience the awe, wonder and imagination sparked by space exploration—past, present and future.

Remember Nature Day Celebration Event: Tues 4 Nov, 4–6pm
Remember Nature is a group exhibition featuring artists from the UK and beyond, inspired by the visionary initiative of the same name instigated by artist Gustav Metzger in 2015. Now observed worldwide each year on November 4th, the day invites creatives across disciplines to respond to the climate crisis with care and imagination. This exhibition brings together a diverse range of artists whose practices reflect on and respond to the natural world, its fragility, and our relationship with it. The works offer gentle, thoughtful, and confrontational interpretations, emphasising the wonder, vulnerability, and quiet resilience of nature. Curated by artists Estelle Woolley and Jill Walker whose own practices are rooted in a slow, gentle and a tactile engagement with natural materials, the exhibition features artists whose work both complements and contrasts with these sensibilities, fostering a dialogue between different approaches and mediums.
Acquaintance explored the creative possibilities of botanical cyanotype toning and sustainable photographic processes. This exploration considered how location-specific sustainable photographic processes can produce bodies of work that are materially connected to the landscape. This project was centred on the Peak District and surrounding areas, close to where I grew up in Manchester.

Axisweb Feature: In Praise of Raw Data
I was pleased for my collaborative project In Praise of Raw Data to be featured in the Axisweb Highlights back in September. You can read the feature on the Axisweb blog.
Photofusion Sale
I have a print available as part of Photusion’s Autumn print sale, until 15 Oct. I am pleased to support Photofusion as they hosted my Precious Metals solo show back in 2022, and I have led many workshops there since 2015 with the London Alternative Photography Collective.
There are many esteemed artists who have donated prints, including Tim Burton, Ajamu X, Alma Haser, Amak Mahmoodian, Anthony Luvera, Arpita Shah, Clare Hewitt, Dafna Talmor, Daniel Meadows, Edmund Clark, Gideon Mendel, Gina Glover, Jason Evans, Jenny Lewis, Kalpesh Lathigra, Karen Knorr, Laura Pannack, Murray Ballard, Sarah Pickering, Sian Bonnell, Sian Davey, Sunil Gupta, Susan Derges & More.
New Work
I have produced a new body of work, which I hope to build upon in the future. Scorched Earth is a photographic project documenting landscapes that suffer from excess heat and drought. The photographs will eventually be printed using the anthotype and chlorophyll process. These processes work by bleaching of plant matter, in a similar way to how plants can be scorched through excessive heat. This project aims to bring awareness to impacts of climate change close to home (within the UK and overseas). The project is also mindful of effect that artistic practices can have on the ecology of Earth, suggesting methods of photographic practice that are kinder to the planet.
This project has been speculative for a while, as I have not been able to find funding to support it. However, sometimes life happens and the work begins. On holiday in North Yorkshire, I drove past these fields in Fylingdales. This moorland was part of a managed wildfire that had spiralled out of control, leaving the earth completely scorched for miles around.

Passengers Residency Update
I have now concluded my residency at Passengers, The Brunswick Centre, London.
I have been using the residency to learn more about the architecture of The Brunswick Centre, whilst also developing my practice-based research post PhD.
Whilst the solar cameras I have installed around the building are recording away, I have been making cyanotypes using archival NASA images of Jupiter and Venus; experimenting with chalk found in Ramsgate where I live to create a natural ‘bleach’ for cyanotype. This continues my research into the cyanotype duotone process and has led to a cyanotype animation of the Moon, following a workshop with artist Edd Carr.
Keep a look out for our End of Residency event in late November, where I will be sharing her developed research and work-in-progress. This will be accompanied by a telescope viewing with astronomer Paul Hill.
Analogue Ensemble
I have been helping Analogue Ensemble to organise an experimental and analogue film screening night on 26 October, 7pm at Ramsgate Arts Club, Old Wine Warehouse, Charlotte Court, Ramsgate, CT11 8HE. Come along - it is always a nice evening.
Cosmic New Materialism Reading Group
at International Astronautical Congress, Sydney
Over the last 12 months, myself and Dr Jennifer Crouch have been leading an informal ‘Cosmic New Materialism’ reading group online.
Last week Dr Crouch presented our paper ‘The Cosmic New Materialisms reading group: A cosmic collective cartography’ at the International Astronautical Congress in Sydney, Australia.
You can find out more about our paper on the IAC website.
Support Me
Did you know that my Patreon page now operates as a searchable resource for my analogue photography experiments since 2020? On my Patreon page, you can find recipes and tutorials for most of the processes I use. I believe that it is important to keep this information free source, but if you’d like to support my practice I would welcome donations. All proceeds go towards the further development of my practice. Patreon (£10 Subscription includes: Monthly postcard and regular tutorials and videos. There are lower tiers available.)
For October 2025, I am offering an A6 Postcard on recycled card, from my new body of work - Scorched Earth.
